Discussion

Searsport Sunday Night started in 1982 in a doctor's office on Main Street in Searsport. A couple of those original members are still around. The group then moved to the Searsport Congregational Church Vestry. This was a "smokers' " meeting and it was not handicap accessible. The meeting was well attended, and most summers had a guest skunk! There was also an Al-Anon meeting in the Congo Church Vestry which met at the same time as the AA meeting.

In 1994, the group moved to the church's new addition. We entered the building on the side of Knox Bros. Ave. This meeting is a non-smokers meeting and is now handicap accessible. Al-Anon is no longer meeting at the Searsport Sunday Night Meeting.

Currently, we have about 12 group members. We meet every Sunday night at 8 PM. Our business meeting is the second Sunday of the month at 7 PM (scheduled to follow the District 16 Meeting which is the second Saturday of the month at 9:30 AM). We have great attendance and participation and welcome any newcomers, visitors and new members!
