This group was founded February of 1989 by Mike B.  Some of the early members include Jan B., Mike B., Steve F., Jack C., Ann D., Gary T., Kristin R., Dottie D., John M., Sue M., Don M., Sheldon M., Barbara B., Alan R., David C., and Ed. S.

The group started in the Denmark Community Church and is still there today.  They meet from 8-9 on Thursday nights in the basement of the church.  Another meeting was started separately on Monday night but is now an offshoot of the Thursday night group.

Mike B. and his wife Jan B. moved to Denmark from Lynn, Massachusetts with two very little children.  They wanted a meeting close to home.  Mike figured that all he needed was a church basement, coffee pot and a couple of drunks and there would be a Denmark meeting.  He made the arrangements and the Thursday night meeting got going.  Two months later Jerry B. started a Big Book Step/Study meeting on Monday nights.  By the late summer both had combined with the same officers.  Some went to both meetings and some only to one of the two nights.  I can’t remember who, from the above list of members were the very early original member except for Mike B. and his wife Jan B. and Jack C. but the above were the members from the first anniversary.

The meeting is doing well today and is regularly attended by lots of folks.  Sometimes in the summer the meeting is held outside on the lawn of the church.  The setting is lovely and the meeting has a wonderful spiritual tone.
